Off the Cuff Stuff…

I don't have any life-altering content that I am going to share with you today, but I do have a few things that I'd like to bring to the attention of my readership. So, if you'll indulge me for just a few minutes, I promise this will be a quick post! :)

First of all, I want to give a shout out and a recommendation to the Good Vibe Coach herself, the very positive and uplifting Ms. (Mrs?) Jeannette Maw of the Law of Attraction Playground blog, and the Good Vibe Coaching website.

Jeannette is doing a great job of spreading the message that each of us can positively create our lives from moment to moment, and in a fit of practicing what she preaches, she recently made a positive mind shift in her Vibrational Recovery post.

It seems that she is in need of some web design work, and I know we've got some tech-head readers here at Today is that Day. Check out her post and see if you can lend a hand, or if you know someone who can help out, point them to Jeannette's site.

BLOG ACTION DAY

Blog Action Day - Make a Difference!People have been asking for a long time if blogging had any real purpose, and a whole bunch of great folks have banded together to show the world what we can do!

There is a huge (and growing!) list of people who are participating, but a big tip of the hat must first go to the folks who masterminded the whole idea: Collis Ta'eed of NorthxEast, Leo Babauta of ZenHabits and The Positive Blog Network, and Cyan Ta'eed of the enormously  popular FreelanceSwitch.

These folks have organized a one-day event called Blog Action Day when bloggers all over the world will all blog about the same topic in order to show the combined power and influence of the blogosphere. It's not a power trip, though, but rather a chance to do some good, which is exactly what they are doing!

The subject of this first Blog Action Day is the environment itself, and I can think of few causes more worthy than saving the planet! Today is that Day is proud to have signed up for Blog Action Day, which is on October 15, 2007, and I highly recommend that you do the same!

It doesn't cost a thing to sign up, (although you can donate blog earnings if you want to), and you will get the added benefit of not only helping to save the world, but also in being a part of what will probably be the biggest blogging event in history - at least until we do it again next year!

Find out what it's all about right here, and be sure to take part. Who doesn't want to be a part of changing the course of history?!?

Okay, that's it! See, I told you this post would be short!

Friday Funnies from Today is that Day

The Master Key System Audio Program

Although I've got plenty of core content ideas ready to be written up and published, I thought I would take a fun break from the normally heavy hitting stuff that I write and lighten things up for a minute.

I'd hate to be accused of not being a well-rounded and entertaining blogger! :)

So, although the Saturday Link Love post is coming up, as is the next edition of the Doing it Differently Blog Carnival, for today, here are some giggles. Enjoy!

Actual Keywords that People have used to Find the Today is that Day Blog

Most bloggers have at least a touch of "stataholism". For the uninformed, stataholism is the ever-increasing need to constantly check the stats on your site to see how many people are visiting, what they are clicking on, where they came from, etc.

Stataholism will - I have no doubt - eventually have a prescription medication that deals with the debilitating condition! In the meantime, during some of my own bouts with the illness, I have uncovered some rather unusual keywords that people have used at Google or Yahoo to find this blog.

I can only imagine the search engine algorithm that would go into these keywords actually landing someone on this site, but here they are just the same!

"personal development" to "save the planet" blog - Okay, that one is at least understandable. However, I was not aware that this site had elevated to "save the planet" status. I guess I'm more popular than I thought!

how to make 1 million dollars in 15 minutes - Uhh…yeah. I'm good, but I'm not that good! My momma taught me to take at least 20 minutes when manifesting anything over $500,000.

funny captain pictures - Unfortunately it was unclear exactly which captain this individual had come here looking for. I like Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, Captain Sisko, Captain Janeway, and Captain Archer (trekkies rejoice!), but I'm not sure that this site is exactly a one-stop shop for funny captain pictures. Of course, now that I have just used that keyword combination twice, I'll probably be flooded with new visitors who are on the captain hunt!

you cheat - I find this one particularly ironic because I'm quite sure it was due to the post 'I need You to Cheat on your Spouse', which is actually about focus and goal setting, not actual cheating. Oh well, maybe that person left here with a renewed sense of purpose!

shut up you lazy bastard - HAHAHAHA! I almost spit my coffee on my laptop screen when I first saw this one! Most likely in response to the post 'Can you Shut Up for just a Minute?' which has rapidly become one of the most popular posts on this site. I'm just glad I wasn't too lazy to write it!

my wife thinks im a negative person - Hey, if the shoe fits! At least she didn't say you were a lazy, cheating bastard!

pictures of when i am naked - Okay, the need for naked pictures of yourself not even being discussed here, why would you search on the Internet for pictures of yourself? Besides, even if you were going to do that search, wouldn't your name be a good place to start, rather than just "I"??

naked life guard girls - Men and women have had crushes on life guards for years - that is not in debate. However, once they take the life guard bathing suit off, how does the picture show that they are a life guard?? Who knows - maybe they just strapped that orange floaty thing on for the photo shoot?

And last, but not least:

naked fishing pictures - Am I the only one who can think of at least 6 or 7 reasons why naked fishing would not be a good idea?? Besides, even if it was a good idea, who wants pictures of that?

I hope you have enjoyed this little tour of what brought some of your fellow blog surfers to this site, and please also know that my jest is all in…ummm…jest!

If you are one of the people who found this site as a result of these keywords, hey, we're just glad that you're here! :)

Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love, Volume 21

How to Invoke the Law of Attraction

This is Volume 21 of the Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love series.

This series will be published weekly and will be comprised of links to quality blog posts that have proven to be extraordinary in their ability to assist, inform, or empower the reader. Enjoy!

1) Breathing Prosperity - In the wonderful post 'Personal Development: Who’s Calling the Shots?', Shauna asks us to consider the true motivations behind the life that we live each day. A lot of people may be way off track!

2) Steve Pavlina - Sometimes we just make things harder on ourselves than they really need to be, and Steve's post 'How to Make Smart Decisions in Less Than 60 Seconds' offers a great way to simplify the decision making process.

3) Debra Moorehead - Speaking of simplifying things, Debra's post 'What is “Self Improvement” Anyway?' does a smashing job of demonstrating what that phrase really means. Totally awesome stuff, and be sure to read through to the end to see a great example of this concept in real life.

4) Zen Habits - When Leo asked his audience to give up their best kept weight loss secrets, they responded in a big way, and he was kind enough to compile a list of the most popular in a post called '80 Awesome Weight Loss Tips'.

5) Success from the Nest - Tony D. Clark had a great idea that he turned into a challenge for his readers. It is time well spent when you consider the concept of 'Your Childhood Dreams Fulfilled'.

6) Genius Types - There is too much wisdom and truth contained in Brian Lee's post 'The Perfect Time to Start Never Comes' for me to summarize it all here. Just trust me - you want to read that post!

7) Jane Chin - I love how this edition of the Link Love series has so many "you-centric" posts, and Jane's awesome piece called 'If You Were to Go back in Time…' is no different. Tune in as she advises her younger self to stay in touch with her own needs and desires, rather than those of society.

8) Craig Harper - Known for his lengthy (but time well spent!) blog posts, Craig chimes in with a short post this time around, but it is still power-packed with a potential slap in the face. Be sure to check out 'That's it; I'm DEFINITELY CHANGING (some time soon)'.

9) Zen Chill Power Tools - With another great entry that speaks up about what is really important in life - as well as some great insights into the concept - check out 'The Power of Fun and Play' by Raymond David Salas.

Blogs that have featured Today is that Day:

The Personal Development Blog included the post 'Self Improvement Hack: I am NOT that kind of person!' along with a short list of other great reading, so I was in very good company there. Much obliged!

Bloggers for Positive Global ChangeMy buddy Lyman over at Creating a Better Life was rightfully handed the Bloggers for Positive Global Change award which he then passed on to me as well as several other high quality bloggers. Lyman, my sincerest thanks! I would have tagged you, Rick at Shards of Consciousness, and Steve Olson as well, so you already beat me to half of my list! :) I'll ask Christine Kane, Edward Mills, and Dave Olson to play along, too.

The Power of Schmooze! The always smiling Christy over at Christy's Coffee Break also bestowed a cool honor upon me this week, and apparently my blog is able to call upon the power of SCHMOOZE, which, well, I think is pretty cool! It's all about being warm and friendly as she says, and I'll certainly take that. Thanks, Christy!

Blog Carnivals that have recently included posts from Today is that Day:

And finally, in a VERY WONDERFUL addition to the Blog Carnival world, Karen Lynch - a frequent contributor to this Link Love series - has started a brand new blog carnival called Live the Power Unlimited.

Karen is a rock-solid individual, and I have no doubt that her new project will be a smashing success. Be sure to swing by and check out one of the Today is that Day posts along with a host of other high quality content at the very first edition of Live the Power Unlimited!

Wow, what a great list of links and content that came together this week! With the 4th of July, I was behind on my reading, but it took me very little time to scare up this week's list because there was so much to choose from. Continued congratulations to all of our wonderful writers for their success, and continued gratitude to each of the readers who make it all worthwhile!

Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love, Volume 19

Start Creating Your Vision Board Today!

This is Volume 19 of the Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love series.

This series will be published weekly and will be comprised of links to quality blog posts that have proven to be extraordinary in their ability to assist, inform, or empower the reader. Enjoy!

1) Leo Chiang - There is a common misconception that you need to have your full lot of success before you can begin celebrating it. That, of course, is ridiculous, and in his post Ode to Happiness, Leo truly leads by example with an award-winning attitude even though he is still struggling with the same issues that most people face on their path to glory.

2) The Good Life - In her post Going From a Mindset of Lack to a Mindset of Abundance Maria Palma shares 2 excellent and easy to implement tips to help you keep your state of mind exactly where it needs to be for success.

3) Dr. Graf - Anyone who truly understands the Law of Attraction knows that it is all about feeling good, and humor is one of the best ways to do just that - even if it is at the expense of the movie 'The Secret'! Funny stuff - Shhhh…Funny Video Mocks THE SECRET

4) Behind the Glasses - Grigor shares with us some excellent advice on parenting that I think many of today's parents would be wise to internalize. Check out Don’t be a friend to your child for all the details.

5) Steve Olsen - Steve wrote a great piece about a recent article that compares "normal" people to "mentally disordered" people, and it has started a lively debate about which of those subsets are better off. Highly recommended reading: Self-Delusion or Reality?

6) The Urban Monk - Albert has put together a list of 16 top tips for awakening creativity and innovation and I was grateful for finding some truly out of the box thinking in his post. Good stuff!

7) Live the Power - Karen shares some great scientific information that points us to the fact that our bodies have real power. For anyone who wasn't already 100% sure of that, be sure to check out The DNA Phantom Effect.

Hueina Su hosted the 72nd Edition of the Carnival of Healing at her blog. Congratulations on the running success of that Carnival! Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love, Volume 18

Start Creating Your Vision Board Today!

This is Volume 18 of the Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love series.

This series will be published weekly and will be comprised of links to quality blog posts that have proven to be extraordinary in their ability to assist, inform, or empower the reader. Enjoy!

It has been a very busy week here at Today is that Day, due largely to the massive success of the 10,000 Fists to Freedom Challenge, for which I am massively grateful to all of you who have done so very much to support that project.

I would like to start out this week's Link Love post with a quick shout-out to all of the bloggers who have helped spread the word by linking to the Challenge over the past few days:

MomGadget ~ The Tall Poppy ~ Be the Change - Tread the Path ~ Ordinary Folk ~ Steve Olson ~ Christy's Coffee Break ~ Evolving Times ~ Creating a Better Life via 17 Success Principles ~ Go Smell the Flowers ~ Dave Olson ~ Breathing Prosperity

More Gratitude to each of you than I can easily put into words, as well as to everyone else who Dugg, Stumbled, or High-Vibed the post, which resulted in so much traffic to my site that we collectively crashed the server. I love when that happens! p.s. - More server space is on the way, so you all will have to try harder to crash the server in the future! :)

1) Travis Eneix - In one of those moments that makes you say "Wow, I can't believe I didn't think of that," Travis brings us the very cool post (and concept), If You Don’t Like It, Put It Back On The Rack.

2) The Personal MBA - Speaking of simple, it doesn't get much easier than JP Morgan’s Guaranteed Formula for Success. A needed reminder in today's world of more tools and systems than you can shake a stick at.

3) Escape from Cubicle Nation - In another moment of clarity that is worth internalizing, Pamela brings us the post Your "confusion" at making a big change is more likely fear of the truth. Highly recommended reading. Take your honesty with you when you click the link.

4) The Happiness Project - Gretchen takes us on a brief but very useful journey to de-cluttering our lives (thus, our minds) with her post Are you at risk for clutter mentality?

5) Craig Harper - With a concept that is just as applicable to mental/spiritual/professional development as it is to our level of health and physical fitness, Craig's post Living in the Age of Information Overload points out that we're drowning in knowledge, but many people aren't doing anything with it!

6) Shards of Consciousness - Rick points out a very enlightening fact in his post Someone is Always Looking. He is absolutely right, and you can seriously set yourself up for failure if you don't take his lesson to heart.

7) Pick the Brain - In a post that all but made me stand up and cheer when I first read it, John gives us some advice that you need to hear. In our information overloaded society, listen as John says Here’s a Tip: Start Thinking for Yourself.

8) Zen Habits - With a list of 10 sins that are worthy of being inscribed on stone tablets, be sure to read and recognize the truth in Leo's post Can You Spot These 10 Thinking Sins?

9) The Believe Factor - Via the post Tony Robbins Spoof. Ben Stiller doing his thing, I was incited to go to YouTube and get the full-size version of this hilarious video. Don't click unless you're prepared to laugh!

Blogs that have featured Today is that Day:

LifeSpark.net featured 'Happiness Quotient - What Blueprint Are You Creating?' as part of a list of 4 time-worthy posts to read.

Dave Olson invites us to wave goodbye to our excuses and he references the post 'Personal Development Protocol: What’s Holding You Back?' in the process.

SharpBrains has a list of several recent life-improving blog carnivals that includes the Today is that Day Doing it Differently Carnival.

Creating a Better Life - Lyman Reed also reviewed the book 'Life on Purpose' as I did, and he is keeping a running list of the blogs who have posted reviews on that book.

Blog Carnivals that have recently included posts from Today is that Day:

The 4th Edition of the Carnival of Life, Happiness & Meaning was hosted at Life Insurance Lowdown and included several great posts along with the Today is that Day post '5 Simple Methods for Banishing Negative people from your Life'.

That's it for this edition! Once again, much gratitude to everyone who has helped make the 10,000 Fists to Freedom Challenge such a success, and, as always, never-ending gratitude to all of the talented authors who inspire this Link Love series, and the readers who make it all worthwhile!
