Remember What the Party is For

Today is May 24, 2008, and it is the Saturday of the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the United States. Memorial Day is a holiday when U.S. citizens remember the military members who have died in order to protect and preserve the American way of life.

I am an ex-U.S. Army soldier myself, so I have a special appreciation for those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so that I could have the freedom and the opportunity to sit here, safe and secure in my home, writing this tribute to them.

Remember those who gave up their life so you could have the freedom to read this.

As we all go about our activities this holiday weekend, hitting pools, ponds, beaches and barbeque's, don't forget to remember that while you're out partying like a rock star, there are soldiers who never came home, children without one of their parents, and family members who will never again see their son, daughter, brother, or sister.

It's not about being down and depressed about it, it's about celebrating the freedom that we have, showing gratitude for those who made it possible, and never taking it all for granted.

As you tip a glass this weekend, and officially kick off your summer, give a moment of remembrance to those who made it possible, and then make the rest of the party - and the rest of your life - something that was worthy of their sacrifice.

Much gratitude to Domestic Divapalooza for gathering a list of Memorial Day tribute blog posts!

Are Personal Growth Opportunities Slipping Through your Fingers?

The Master Key System Audio Program

Today is Friday, November 23rd, and most people in the United States are in the midst of celebrating the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Although the traditional "feast" has become the primary focus of this holiday, the real reason for Thanksgiving is to show gratitude for the things that we have in our lives.

Given the amazing (unlimited?) ability of gratitude to bring positive changes into our lives, having a holiday dedicated to that one concept is certainly a wonderful thing, and many bloggers and other writers have already written about gratitude and how it fits into our lives.

Personally, I have so many things to be grateful for that I could write an entire book about it, rather than just a blog post. However, spending quality time with friends and family is one of the biggest things that I am grateful for on a daily basis, not just on the holidays, and it was during one of those times when I had the chance to watch the movie 'Evan Almighty' with Morgan Freeman, Steve Carell, and Lauren Graham.

It was a very entertaining movie, time well spent, and family-friendly as well. However, it wasn't the entertainment value that inspired this post, but rather an important message that was delivered by God, played in the movie by Morgan Freeman.

There is one point in the movie when Evan has been deserted by his wife and kids because they basically think that he has gone off the deep end. His wife is sitting in a restaurant wondering what went wrong, and God comes to visit her in the guise of a waiter at the restaurant.

She doesn't know that the "waiter" is God, of course, and when she questions whether or not blindly following God's wisdom is the right thing to do, Morgan Freeman says the following:

If someone prays for patience, do you think God gives them patience, or does he give them the opportunity to be patient?

If he prays for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him the opportunity to be courageous?

If someone prays for their family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm, fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?

Life is so very much like the type of situations described in that quote from the movie, yet people tend to waltz right past their personal growth opportunities without even recognizing them for what they are.

In today's world we have become so accustomed to there being some "solution" to any problem or issue that comes into our lives, and we often forget the fact that the path to happiness and success doesn't come in a pill, a bottle, a book, or a seminar. We have to do the work.

God, or the Universe, or Divine Spirit, or whatever you want to call it - those powers just provide us the opportunities to work towards attaining our deepest desires. Then, when we've done "the work" and we have gotten what we wanted, the prize is that much sweeter because we see that it has real value.

We see that it was worth working for.

We see that it's worth keeping.

We see that it's worth protecting.

We see that the prize is not only incredibly valuable, but more importantly, that we are incredibly worthy of having it. After all, we asked for it - if we hadn't, it wouldn't have been delivered.

So, as today goes by, and tomorrow, next week, next month, etc., ask yourself just what it is that you are asking for, because no matter what it is that you ask for, your Higher Power will provide you with the opportunity to get your hands on it.

Make sure you're on the look out for it.

The Master Key System

I have written many times on this blog about about the power of Gratitude, and I would say beyond a shadow of a doubt that being grateful for what we have is the single most important key to getting the things that we want.

The U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving is obviously a good time to think about all of the things that we have to be grateful for, and for me personally, the readers of my blogs, the members of Personal Development Partners, and all of my social networking partners all rank way up there on the gratitude scale.

This blog, PDP, and my entire online business model would be non-existent without all of you, so allow me to send out my sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you as we approach the holiday season and the New Year!

In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving Day holiday, I am going to give back to my online community in the most effective way that I can, and that is to do everything in my power to get my products and services into the hands of the people who can benefit from them.

Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love, Volume 26

The Master Key System Audio Program

This is Volume 26 of the Self Improvement and Law of Attraction Link Love series.

This series will be published weekly and will be comprised of links to quality blog posts that have proven to be extraordinary in their ability to assist, inform, or empower the reader. Enjoy!

Just a short list this week because I am taking some time away from the computer on the Saturday when I normally spend several hours working on this post. The small list of links this week are all great posts, though, so be sure to check out each and every one of them!

1) MySimplerLife - Beth shares some awesome advice in her post Fix the Problem, Don’t Just Put Up With It. In keeping with the theme of her site, the advice is simple, but oh so effective!

2) Secret of Unlimited Prosperity - James Karen invites us to partake in a big cup of responsibility with his post 10 Things That Only You Can Take Responsibility For. My hat is off to him for pointing out that self improvement starts with "self"!

3) Evolving Times - In addition to his incredible and prize-packed Law of Attraction Party, Edward has a great recent post called Shift Your Focus To Shift Your Experience. Do yourself a favor and put yourself in the moment that he describes - you'll be glad you did!

4) The Positivity Blog - Henrik Edberg shares a short, but incredible video of life here on planet Earth in his post An Absolutely Awe-Inspiring Planet Earth Remix. If that video doesn't bring up your spirits about the beauty and complexity of simply living on this planet, then you need to get off!

5) Steve Olson - In the post Do You have the Courage to be Yourself?, Steve points out that we are all who we choose to be, rather than the labels that we are given, or that we give to ourselves. There is quite the lively discussion going on in the comments section, as well.

Blogs that have featured Today is that Day:

Karen Lynch continues her popular Joy Links series and in the August 4th edition, she featured the incredibly popular Today is that Day post '10 things you can’t do with the Law of Attraction'.

Blog Carnivals that have recently included posts from Today is that Day:
