Long time no see, Doc - great to see you 'round these parts!

Inspiring you has been something I've enjoyed as long as I've known you, so I am truly grateful to still be able to be a positive impact on your life.

I am also very glad to know that you're reading my blog and staying in touch. Good to hear from you, Doc! :)

Hey Aron,
You made a good analogy by using the boy or girl in high school. you truly do need to be inspired to achieve ultimate success. In fact, you have inspired me to be inspired. I'm gonna get up right now and do what needs to be done to achieve what I want to right now.

[...] you cheat - I find this one particularly ironic because I'm quite sure it was due to the post 'I need You to Cheat on your Spouse', which is actually about focus and goal setting, not actual cheating. Oh well, maybe that person left here with a renewed sense of purpose! [...]

JoLynn,

You hit the nail right on the head!

There’s no room for excuses when you are truly committed to accomplishing important goals.

In fact, I would add to that by saying that there is no desire for excuses, either! If you truly want to attain a goal in life, you don't work towards it because you feel that you have to - that is where excuses creep in.

Someone who is truly inline with the accomplishment of their goals wants to get there, so excuses never even enter into the equation.

Thanks for adding that valuable bit of advice to the conversation, JoLynn! :)

Tim,

Without knowing more about you and spending time with you, the first thought that came to my mind when you said you didn't want your goals that bad was that you should consider some soul-searching to decide what you do want.

Desire is the key to success in any endeavor, so that is the necessary first step. Although a comment box is far too small of a medium to effectively discuss a long-term goal setting strategy, the bottom line is that it boils down to what you WANT to do with your life.

Not what you think you can do, but what you actually want to do. I would start by making a list of the things that you enjoy doing - whether or not you could actually accomplish goals or make money by doing them. Once you have that list, it will be a starting point for you to take the next steps.

Also, although I don't remember the exact URL's, go back through the Link Love series on this blog. There have been several entries about goal setting and future planning that are more than worth the time to read through. Here is the URL to the Link Love category page:

Good point Aaron, you definitely need to have that passion in order to persist in achieving your goals. That also means that you will eliminate all of the excuses that you've been using to stop yourself previously.

Ok, but how do you acheive that level of passion for something? Looking at my goals, it's clear to me that I don't want them that bad. Looking back through my life, including my teen years, I can honestly say I've never felt the way you describe about anyone, so I can't call upon those memories, either.

Patricia,

You make an excellent point about the fact that we can use those types of memories in order to raise our vibrations. Thanks for pointing that out!

Many people have trouble having a high vibration about something they are trying to manifest because they don't have that thing yet. However, by just thinking back to other magical moments or even time periods in your life, you can remember what magic feels like.

That makes it a lot easier to pull future rabbits out of hats. :)

So true.

In fact, it is the recall of moments like these you mention here, those who help me most reaching the high-vibrating state I look for at the beginning of my meditation.

One of the memories that take me all the way up the scale is the first sight of a piano player who became my boyfriend a few days later. That very first sight was charged with an amazing energy and brought together the knowledge that we were going to meet and be close. Today I know I was implementing the LoA that night.

Thank you for the distinction between things we just want and things we love.
